DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS
- DR. IMRAN SAMEJO
- INCHARGE OF THE DEPARTMENT
I feel Proud to be part of Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences. I am Thankful to Honorable Vice Chancellor and Dean who gave me the chance to serve in this prestigious Institute. We as a department envision to develop ourselves into a flourishing Dental Prosthodontics healthcare facility.
Prosthodontics is the specialty of dentistry pertaining to the restoration & maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance & health of the patient by the restoration of natural teeth and/or replacement of missing teeth & craniofacial tissue with artificial substitutes.
We aim to train our students so that they can compete anywhere in the world with their counterpart. Our curriculum is structured to deliver information through lectures, seminars, and clinical oversight of patient care. We will further try our best to advance the teaching methodology in our Undergraduate programs and include computer-assisted design and machining of various ceramic restorations, conventional and implant-retained crowns and fixed partial dentures, as well as conventional and implant-retained complete and partial removable dentures. The future of the department lies in to begin FCPS and other postgraduate training programs.
We encourage interdepartmental, collaborative research with special emphasis on in vitro and in vivo biomaterials research, cross sectional and longitudinal research on occlusion and function, implant design and loading, and multivariate longitudinal patient care outcomes using bioinformatics. We continually review new materials and associated techniques to assure appropriately researched new technologies are incorporated into our curriculum, while at the same time using evidence-based information as the core for our teaching material.
